On Pages, Feelings, and the Things That Stay

Some books change us. And there are quiet, almost invisible moments when we feel we've found ourselves between the lines — in a sentence, a thought, a feeling.

And when we set the book down, a small but meaningful marker stays behind. A marker that holds not just a page, but a feeling. A fragment of something lived, of calm, of closeness.

That is how these bookmarks came to be. From the wish to leave more than a placeholder between the pages — to leave a gentle trace of the heart. My illustrations, lovingly made in my warm, playful, personal style, carry simple emotions: longing, tenderness, joy, gratitude.

They're meant for those moments when time seems to slow down, when you sit with a book in your hands and your heart fills with quiet. Or for the times when you miss someone and want to offer a small gesture that means a lot.

Perhaps the tenderness in these drawings also comes from being a mother. I am Roua's mom — my little girl, who reminds me every day how precious small gestures, warm looks, and bonds that need no words truly are.

Maybe that's exactly why I want my art to reach other hearts as well — to keep pages company, to bring smiles, to bring people closer.

Because sometimes the most beautiful feelings live in the simplest things. And sometimes, they fit inside a bookmark.

Please Stay with Mommy!

I cried a lot while working on this illustration…It took me 3 years and 7 months to find the strength to write about it. They say healing begins when you're able to talk about the trauma, when you let your body and soul remember until the danger no longer feels so...
